The leaves are large, ovate to oblong-ovate, can bear solitary flowers, and the flower stalks are long and densely hairy. Fruit shape and size vary greatly. Eggplant is a common vegetable on the table. It has the effects of clearing away heat and cooling blood, dissipating blood stasis and reducing swelling. It has high nutritional value and can be stir-fried, roasted, steamed, boiled, fried, served cold, and made into soup.
Growing eggplant planting Guide:
First choose a field with fertile soil, convenient drainage and irrigation, which was previously used as rice or a field that has not been planted with solanaceous crops in the past three years. It should be plowed deeply and blanched in the sun, and the soil should
be finely broken. Combined with soil preparation, apply 50-80 kg of lime powder per mu to disinfect the soil and adjust the pH. Eggplant has strong fertilizer tolerance and requires a lot of fertilizer. Place the seeds in warm water at 55-60°C. Stir while pouring water to keep the seeds floating until the water temperature drops to 30°C. Take them out, dry them slightly and then soak them in 1% potassium permanganate solution for 10-15 minutes.
Take them out and wash them with 30°C potassium permanganate solution. Soak in water for 12-24hours. Wait until all the seeds are soaked. During the soaking process, wash the seeds repeatedly with your hands to remove the mucus on the surface of the seeds. After soaking, take them out, wrap them in clean gauze and place them at 25-30°C for germination. During the germination process, wash them with clean water 1-2 times a day. Generally, 80% of the seeds can germinate in 4-5 days and can be sown in the seedbed in time. About 15 days after the eggplant seedlings are planted, shallow cultivating and weeding are carried out, combined with small soil cultivation and thin application of seedling fertilizer once, and 10-20 tons of thin human excrement per mu. After the root eggplant of the plant sets fruit, remove the side branches below the root eggplant to prevent excessive branches and leaves from consuming nutrients. During this period, the plants have not yet been sealed.
Deep cultivating, weeding, and soil cultivation are carried out, and top dressing is applied once again. Apply 50 kilograms of potassium sulfate compound fertilizer per mu. When the plant grows into the middle and late stages, topdressing fertilizer should be applied every two fruit harvests, with 15-20 kg of compound fertilizer per mu. At the same time, foliar fertilizers such as Jinkapeng, Aidoshou, or 0.3% potassium dihydrogen phosphate can be sprayed.
